These two quilts have been on the drawing board for a long time...over three years to be exact. So now you’re probably wondering about the name and why two.
I am a romantic at heart...I remember sitting at my grandma’s house...thinking about the dream home I would have when I grew up. Opulence and elegance would be at every turn. Beautiful drapes with swags at the windows with plum and gold being the predominate colors. Of course I would have a little girl that I would sew for and dress in the most perfectly matched garments...and of course, she would be the most perfect child. I would have a handsome prince charming who would dote on my every word. Hello...let me tell you how it really is...I grew up, got married to a dairy farmer, we moved on to the family farm, had four sons and lived in a farmhouse that was built in 1916. The dairy was about a hundred yards out our back door...across a dirt/mud driveway. Are you getting the picture? The only part of my dreams that came true was the prince charming part...he is all that and more. But for the rest of my dream...way over rated.
Well, the romantic spirit and a love for beautiful things never left me even in the midst of the cow p__p and the flies and the hog p__p and the mud brought in by four little boys...and of course prince charming helped in that respect. Cooking for groups of hungry men and helping on the farm and screaming for the four millionth time… “Close the door when you leave...were you born in a barn?” I can definitely tell you that isn’t true but sometimes I began to wonder if I would ever get all the flies out of my house and have a clean floor that would last more than five minutes. But...I digress...back to the quilts. I just love elegant fabrics...silks and shiny satins and vibrant colors are right up my alley.
